De 12 a 20 de setembro, representei o Brasil no Reino Unido. Realizei um “tour” em Londres, conhecendo a cena atual do design britânico junto com os mais destacados agentes da economia criativa do mundo. Os outros vencedores de Design eram da Polônia, Índia, Taiwan, Indonésia e Líbano. Nesse tour, durante o London Design Festival, participamos do Global Design Forum, conhecemos e assistimos palestras no The Future Laboratory e na Royal Society of Arts, e tivemos contato com designers como Tom Dixon e Thomas Heatherwick. From the 12th till 20th of September I represented Brazil in the United Kingdom. I participated in a design "tour" in London, in which I got to know the current scene of british design together with other highlighted young agents of the world creative economy. The other Design winners came from Poland, India, Taiwan, Indonesia and Lebanon. In this tour, during the London Design Festival, we attended the Global Design Forum, watched lectures at The Future Laboratory and at the Royal Society of Arts, and we met designers as Tom Dixon and Thomas Heatherwick. A primeira, a convite da Profa. Dra. Roberta Rodrigues, foi na Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade Federal do Pará - UFPA. Uma segunda conversa, dessa vez com alunos de design, aconteceu no IESAM - Instituto de Estudos Superiores da Amazônia, a convite do Professor/Designer Misael Lima. Ambas as recepções foram bem calorosas, os alunos se mostraram bastante críticos e as palestras foram seguidas de intensos debates. Discutimos qual poderá ser o futuro deste projeto, além de falarmos sobre questões do design local, as oportunidades e a diversidade amazônica. Comentamos sobre o papel do designer como profissional independente, empreendedor, e seus métodos inovadores e experimentais. Foi especialmente elogiado o aspecto do resgate cultural do "Objetos da Floresta" e de sua aplicação num contexto contemporâneo, onde as relações homem-natureza necessitam revisão. Também foi muito bom ouvir que o projeto instiga e estimula a produção local. www.objetosdafloresta.com -- During the Amazon's field research for the Project "Objects of the Forest", at Belém do Pará, Andrea was invited to give two lectures. The first, contacted by Prof. PhD Roberta Rodrigues, was at the Architecture school of the Federal University of Pará - UFPA. A second talk, this time with design students, happened at IESAM - Institute for Superior Studies of the Amazon, contacted by Teacher/Designer Misael Lima. Both were very warm receptions, followed by intense talks, were students were very interested and critical. It was a pleasure to comment on what can be the future of this project, besides talking about the local design issues, the opportunities and huge amazonic diversity. We also spoke about the designer as an independent, entrepreneur professional and his innovative and experimental methods. The aspect of reconsidering the local culture and applying it in contemporary contexts, inherent to our project, was especially praised by our audience, who also believes that the relationship between man and nature needs revision. Além de designers, arquitetos e criativos em geral, o evento gratuito contou com muitos interessados em sustentabilidade e inovação. Professores de Universidades, diretores de instituições reconhecidas e até artesãos estiveram presentes, dando contribuições valiosas. Sem a diversidade e sinergia que se formou espontaneamente entre os participantes o projeto certamente não haveria se enriquecido tanto. Among many subjects, we discussed conceptual design, sustainability and identity. We visited local forests and accomplished the "hands on" challenge of producing objects with natural materials in only one day. Besides designers, architects and creatives in general, this free of charge event atracted many people interested in sustainability and innovation. Universitary Teachers, directors of recognized institutions and even artisans were present, giving valuable contribuitions. "Design sem Sobra" tem a ambição de extinguir o conceito de "lixo"! Pioneiro, o workshop foi a primeira iniciativa no Brasil a abordar e fazer experimentos de design com o conceito "cradle-to-cradle" ("do berço ao berço"). The proposal "Design without Waste" has the ambition to extinguish the concept of "garbage"! Pioneer, the workshop was the first initiative in Brazil that addressed and proposed experiments with the "cradle-to-cradle" concept.
